pcappdate. Word about new Galaxy J series smartphones coming from Samsung emerged a few weeks ago when several benchmarks popped up online.
Two new smartphones that go by the name of Galaxy J5 (2016) and Galaxy J7 (2016) are expected to make their debut in the coming weeks.
Perhaps they will be launched at MWC 2016 after Samsung's flagship smartphone the Galaxy S7 gets revealed, but take this as speculation for now.
The good news is both mid-range smartphones have just been certified at Bluetooth SIG, which puts them one step closer to release.
Although the listing at Bluetooth SIG does not reveal any information on their specs sheet, we already know quite a bit about the handsets thanks to the benchmark tests that leaked in the last couple of weeks.
Naturally, none of these specs has been confirmed yet, but they are usually accurate unless Samsung decides to change something at the last minute.
Two Galaxy J7 (2016) variants in the works
So, Galaxy J5 (2016) will most likely be the cheapest of the two as the phone is said to come with a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor inside, coupled with 2GB RAM and 16GB internal memory.
Also, the smartphone should pack a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with LED flash, as well as a secondary 5-megapixel selfie shutter in the front.
On the other hand, the Galaxy J7 (2016) will boast a large 5.5-inch display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution. It will come with either an Exynos 7870 or a Snapdragon 615 processor.
Also, the Exynos-based version might pack a 5.5-inch HD (720p) display whereas the Qualcomm-powered model will come with a full HD (1080p) screen. Also, the latter should include 3GB of RAM while the former will pack just 2GB.
We suspect both smartphones will come preloaded with Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system right out of the box, but we won't know for sure until Samsung makes them official.
