pcappdate. The Galaxy J3 (2016) is an affordable smartphone that made its debut in the United States earlier this year. The handset can now be purchased via Boost and Virgin Mobile, but Samsung has decided to expand the availability of the device to additional carriers.
According to famous leakster @evleaks, the Galaxy J3 (2016) will land at AT&T in the next couple of weeks. The smartphone is branded with the carrier’s logo and will sell as Samsung Galaxy J3 (6).
Unfortunately, there are no details on the phone’s price and availability, but judging from its specs, it shouldn’t be too expensive.
Some of the phone’s specs are well known to the public, but there are a few things that will need to be clarified when AT&T introduces the Galaxy J3 (2016).
Modest specs, but decent design
For example, while we know the handset sports a 5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution, it’s unclear how much storage the Galaxy J3 (2016) will pack inside.
Samsung previously announced that the handset would feature different storage, depending on the market and carrier. The Galaxy J3 (2016) variant available at Virgin and Boost Mobile packs 16GB of internal memory, as well as microSD card slot for expansion.
It also includes a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back, along with a 2-megapixel camera on the front for selfies and video calls. We don’t know if the AT&T version will come with the same camera configuration.
However, it’s certain that the phone will be equipped with a 1.2GHz quad-core processor inside, coupled with 1.5GB of RAM. The Galaxy J3 (2016) will be powered by a 2,600 mAh battery, which hasn’t been rated by the manufacturer.
Last but not least, Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) will ship with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system right out of the box, which is quite standard for affordable smartphones these days. Don’t expect any Marshmallow upgrades in the future.
