pcappdate. Meizu, one of the many popular Chinese handset makers, has recently unveiled its flagship smartphone, the PRO 6. The device will go on sale later this month, but it might not be the only one announced in April.
The sequel to Meizu M2 has been recently spotted at TENAA, the Chinese regulatory commission, so we’re almost sure it will go official in the next couple of weeks. Although Meizu M3 will be initially introduced in China, we expect it to hit shelves in other countries, like India, at a later date.
According to the listing at TENAA, the M3 doesn’t come with too many upgrades over the previous model. In fact, one of the major improvements is the chipset inside.
Much better processor, slightly larger battery
While the Meizu M2 is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, the new model should come equipped with a 1.5GHz octa-core processor, paired with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage, which can be expanded up to 128GB via microSD card slot.
As many Meizu fans have probably noticed by now, the M3 will come with the same amount of memory as the previous model, so there’s no improvement here.
Also, Meizu M3 will sport the same 5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution. Another difference between the two mid-range Android smartphones is the battery.
The M2 is powered by a non-removable 2,500 mAh battery whereas Meizu M3 will pack a slightly larger 2,800 mAh battery, though we’re not sure whether or not it will be removable.
On the back, Meizu M3 will feature a 13-megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash, and video recording while on the front there’s a secondary 5-megapixel camera for selfies.
One thing that remains to be clarified is the operating system that will come inside the Meizu M3. The smartphone is listed at TENAA with YunOS 3.1.6, but we don’t know yet on which version of Android it is based.
