pcappdate. In a surprising move, Verizon will be launching two LG smartphones in less than a week, the K4 and the company’s flagship, LG G5. The affordable LG K4 is already available for purchase at Verizon while the G5 should hit shelves as early as next week.
For those who can’t afford the G5 or want a much cheaper smartphone to gift to someone they love, the K4 might be a decent option. According to Verizon, LG K4 is available for purchase for just $120 outright, but customers can also get it for free on $5 per month for 24 months.
The Big Red also claims LG K4 will launch with a wide range of accessories that allows users to personalize their handset and make sure it’s protected and charged.
For example, a silicone case and anti-scratch screen protector are available for purchase separately. There’s also a Mophie Powerstation that should get the most out of your battery, and an LG Tone Pro that allows users to listen to their tunes on the go.
Only Lollipop, but 4G LTE support and 16GB storage
As for the smartphone’s specs, LG K4 is an entry-level handset that ships with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system right out of the box. Don’t expect for a Marshmallow upgrade since it won’t come.
On the inside, the K4 packs a 1.1GHz quad-core processor, paired with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of storage, which can be expanded up to 32GB via microSD card slot.
LG K4 is powered by a 1,940 mAh removable battery and sports a 4.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 854 x 480 pixels resolution.
Among the many connectivity options offered by LG K4, it’s worth mentioning the 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, microUSB 2.0, and GPS with AGP support.
Last but not least, the entry-level handset packs a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera with autofocus, LED flash, and video recording, as well as a secondary 2-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls.
