pcappdate. As expected, new Chinese company Vernee has made its debut on the smartphone market with a blast. The Apollo is the OEM’s first smartphone, one that puts Vernee among the businesses that plan to pleasantly shock its fans.
We reported earlier this week that Vernee Apollo could be the world’s second smartphone to pack 6GB of RAM inside. The first one belongs to Vivo, another Chinese company, and it’s called Xplay 5 Elite.
The good news is Apollo will be available for purchase beginning April for just $400 outright. Unfortunately, the device will be launched in China, and there’s little chance to see this one released in other countries.
The only chance to grab the Vernee Apollo from countries other than China would be to order one from a Chinese retailer that ships internationally.
It’s not just about the RAM, other specs make it very appealing
Moving on to specs, aside from the fact that it comes with 6GB of RAM inside, the Apollo will be equipped with a powerful MediaTek Helio X20 chipset that accommodates ten cores. Also, the handset packs a Mali-T880 graphics processing unit.
Another strong point of the flagship smartphone is the 5.5-inch capacitive touchscreen that supports Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution. The Apollo is also rumored to feature 3D Touch support, but the information hasn’t been confirmed yet.
The press pictures published by Vernee don’t show any microSD card slots on the sides, so we doubt there will be one. However, the Apollo comes with 128GB of storage inside, which is more than enough even for heavy users.
On the back, Vernee Apollo features a 21-megapixel photo snapper with Sony IMX230 camera, f/2.0 aperture, phase detect autofocus, LED flash and 4K video recording. There’s also a secondary 8-megapixel camera on the front for selfies and video calls.
The Apollo will ship with Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system right out of the box. There’s no information about the battery, but we know it will offer both dual-SIM and 4G LTE support, along with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1 and GPS with AGPS. A fingerprint sensor is included on the back side too.
