pcappdate. Sony might have failed to offer details about a PlayStation VR launch bundle when it originally announced that the virtual reality platform was set to arrive in October, but the company has moved to rectify the omission by announcing a package that's designed to appeal to all those who are interesting in getting into virtual reality gaming.
On Tuesday, March 22 gamers will be able to place pre-orders for the package, which will sell for 499 dollars and at the moment seems to only be designed for the United States and Canada, although a similar solution will probably be offered for 499 Euro in Europe.
The PlayStation VR Launch Bundle will feature the virtual reality headset, the cables associated with it, stereo headphones, the PlayStation Camera that's required for the solution to work, 2 PlayStation Move Controllers, a demo disc, and a disc for PlayStation VR Worlds.
The price of the PlayStation 4 VR solution is still lower than that of both the Oculus Rift, which is being offered starting this month, and the Vive created by HTC and Valve, which is coming starting in April.
Sales for the standalone PlayStation Camera and Move controller have been increasing since the virtual reality solution was confirmed for October and the price was set at 399 dollars or Euro.
Sony is not preparing to create a PlayStation 4 and VR bundle
Shuhei Yoshida, the leader of the Worldwide Studios, has said that his company sees virtual reality as both exciting and unproven for the moment and aims to make the launch process in October as smooth as possible.
Based on the reaction of buyers Sony will decide whether it wants to put together a new PlayStation 4 bundle that also features the PlayStation VR, which could be an attractive purchase in the run-up to Christmas.
According to the company, more than 230 developers are working on titles for its new platform, and the titles that will be offered at launch include PlayStation VR Worlds as well as Tumble VR and an experience based on Star Wars Battlefront, with more set to be announced soon.
Recent rumors are talking about a new hardware revision for the PlayStation 4, which is designed to deliver 4K resolution, but it's unclear when Sony might want to announce or launch it if it is real and whether it will also include new features designed to work specifically with PlayStation VR.
